How lowest rates work from Canada
- Sync a Shopify, Amazon FBM, or eBay order (or create a manual shipment).
- Complete customs (HTS, country of origin, declared value) for USA / international.
- Compare live bookable rates—including the Chit Chats USA network—and pick the cheapest option.
- Choose DDP or DDU on the rate step; PrepKingz reprices brokerage and duty handling to match.
- Buy from your CAD wallet, then drop off at PrepKingz for USA / international lanes.
Option A — DDU (recipient pays)
Default on PrepKingz. You pay postage (and any carrier fees in the quote) only. PrepKingz does not charge the $5 customs brokerage and does not advance duties for you.
- Best when your storefront already discloses that the buyer may owe import charges.
- Chit Chats USA prefers products with no duties in the quote when they exist on the rate card.
- If the carrier only returns duties-prepaid (DDP) products, PrepKingz does not buy that postage. The label stays unpurchased until you choose DDP or a recipient-pays rate is available.
- Risk: the buyer may refuse the parcel if unexpected duties appear at delivery.
Option B — DDP (PrepKingz pays duties)
PrepKingz advances duties / tariffs included in the carrier quote and adds a $5 CAD PrepKingz brokerage per package. Your wallet is debited for postage + duties + brokerage (plus applicable Quebec service tax on PrepKingz fees).
- Best for a delivered-duty-paid customer experience on USA orders.
- Requires complete customs data (10-digit HTS, country of origin, manufacturer details when the product needs them).
- Duty amounts in the portal are estimates until the carrier confirms the purchase.
- Prefer Chit Chats USA products that already include tariff fees when both kinds appear on the card.

Chit Chats USA lane
USA destinations shop PrepKingz's Chit Chats desk network. Both DDP and DDU are accepted in the portal: switching options saves customs, recreates the carrier draft when needed, and refilters the rate card so you see products that match your choice whenever the carrier returns both.
International (non-USA) destinations use Chit Chats duties_paid_requested for DDP vs DDU on eligible International Tracked / Select products, with the same PrepKingz brokerage rules.
Quick FAQ
What is DDP on PrepKingz?
Delivered Duty Paid. PrepKingz advances import duties and tariffs on your USA (or eligible) shipment and adds a $5 CAD PrepKingz customs brokerage fee. Your buyer receives the parcel without a separate duties bill at the door.
What is DDU on PrepKingz?
Delivered Duty Unpaid (recipient pays). PrepKingz does not advance duties and does not charge the $5 brokerage. Where the carrier offers duties-unpaid postage, the consignee may owe duties, taxes, or brokerage to the carrier or customs before delivery.
Which option should I pick for USA orders?
Choose DDU when you want the lowest PrepKingz label total and your listing already tells the buyer they may owe duties. Choose DDP when you want a delivered-duty-paid checkout experience and are willing to fund duties plus the $5 brokerage from your CAD wallet.
